OT: I didn't know

I had to go into the kitchen and check this out for myself. Who ever looks at the end of your aluminum foil box? What a fantastic idea. Now, if someone would just make plastic wrap that didn't stick to itself. I've been using aluminum foil for more years than I care to remember. Great stuff, but sometimes it can be a pain. You know, like when you are in the middle of doing something and you try to pull some foil out and the roll comes out of the box. Then you have to put the roll back in the box and start over. The darn roll always comes out at the wrong time.

Well, I would like to share this with you. Yesterday I went to throw out an empty Reynolds foil box and for some reason I turned it and looked at the end of the box. And written on the end it said, "Press here to lock end". Right there on the end of the box is a tab to lock the roll in place. How long has this little locking tab been there? I then loo ked at a generic brand of aluminum foil and it had one, too. I then looked at a box of Saran wrap and it had one too! I can't count the number of times the Saran warp roll has jumped out when I was trying to cover something up.

I'm sharing this with my friends that did not know this. If you all ready know this, delete this message and don't e-mail me and make me feel dumber than I already feel. If you didn't know this, e-mail me and let me know so I won't feel so dumb.

I hope I'm not the only person that didn't know about this."

Alas, my parchment and wax paper did Not have the tabs, but I don't us them as often as I do the plastic wrap.

I never knew about that either. Good to know. I'll have to check next time I use the foil or plastic wrap.

Okay....I had to get up and go to the kitchen after I read this. Yes, I found the tabs too and never knew they were there. I even went to the living room and showed DH the tabs and he was just as surprised as me. Learn something new every day. Thanks, Irene, I'll be popping my tabs from now on. Sandy

I didn't know this either. I had to go check and sure enough, there it was. That just amazes me. Thanks for sharing.

Oh my goodness I didn't know that either. Thanks for sharing.

I never knew either! Guess they need to put those signs on top w/ arrows pointing to the ends of the box. Wonder how long they've made them this way?

I have to say I did know this, but that info was recently taught to me in the past year. My brother, parents and I were also astounded that the tabs had been there and that none of us knew it. We all thought how could 4 very intelligent people be so dumb. I'm finding out it must me the wrap industry. They never made it clear that the tabs existed... that so many of us had no clue.

Lynne Posting my Google as my IP is giving me fits right now.

As I read your post I thought I've looked at thos boxes so many times and never saw anything like this. So I went to the kitchen to check and there they were. What a great invention! I hate it when the roll comes out and this happens almost everytime I use it. On the foil box they even had little pictures with instructions that I of course never really paid attention to. They should have highlighted them better! So thanks for sharing!!! I'm off to call my mom to see if she knew about this....
