I have been wanting to make my own and have been browsing a few on here. I have never made one before but want to have some basic 'about me' info and a place to show my pages, projects, ect. What do you guys recomend, and why? Thanks so much! Shasta

i think yahoo.com and geocities still has personal websites for you to do and even a homestead page helper to do it... I do my own and upload them to my server so I don't know fer sure what the yahoo site offers anymore.

I made one for my daughter on

because it was free and offered a good bit of space. I keep a lot of pictures on it and some video too...I picked it because it was free though... Arleen

My ISP gave me a free website, and I use a free program called FreeHTML, you can get at

to make the page. Then I use another free program called AceFTP Freeware, you can get at

,to upload to my website folder. To see my website go to

I use a freeware html editor called Arachnophilia. You have to learn a few things about html before you can use the editor but it is pretty easy, my son made his first web page all by himself at age 8 with Arachnophilia. This link

is the site where he learned how to do it. The best way to upload your images and pages IMHO is with an FTP Program. There is a list of free programs available at

you should be able to find a program called WS FTP which works pretty well alhough I use the Pro version. I usually buy webspace from ebay, I think I paid $10 for a year for up three different domains with more bandwidth then I will ever use. I don't care for free webspace since they really aren't free, you usually have to have banner ads or pop ups on your page and you don't get all the perks of having your own domain and control panel. Oh, the best place I have found for domain names is godaddy.com.
