OT: Prayers for Deb's little furbaby

I am asking for prayers for Deb's little furbaby. The guinea pig Deb and her family adopted from us is sick. Deb doesn't think she'll make it much longer. Please say a prayer to help Deb, her DH and the kids through this. Thank you.

Little Sarafina didn't make it, died in my arms a few minutes ago. We only had her a year, but she was still very dear to me. Just before she died, the kids asked if they could go play at a friends' house. So they weren't here. I'm not sure if that's good or bad. But DD was taking it pretty hard. I'm waiting for DH to come home so we can bury her in the backyard.

I am so sorry to hear that! My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Sarafina was lucky to have you as you were to have her!

Hi Deb, I am so Sorry for your Loss!! ~:o) What happened to Sarafina?? Was she an older pig? I had one for about 9 years and let me tell you we adored each other.

My Deepest Sympathy. God Bless, Dorothy in NY

I am so sorry Deb. I really thought she'd pull through. Your children were so sweet when they so gently broke the news to me yesterday. The kids are handling it very well.

I can answer this for you Dorothy, I think. (Hope Deb doesn't mind, she's really upset about loosing Sarafina) Sarafina was about a year old, and don't really know what happened. (My DH and I rescued a number of babies from a house that had waaay too many pets and Deb and her family adopted one of the GP's.) We've had GP's that were only with us for a year and we currently have on that's been with us for 8, and a wide range of time inbetween. Sarafina was an unbreed female and they sometimes develope uterine cancer. (I talked with our vet last night deb) so that may be what happened.

No, I don't mind Kenda. I'm glad you talked to your vet. That might explain why she was in pain when I picked her up Wednesday afternoon.

Thank you all for the sympathies. We're healing...slowly but surely. DD cried a little yesterday, but once I got her to talk about some things she liked about Sarafina, she was ok. DS wanted to "go check on Sarafina" yesterday afternoon. I gently reminded him "she's gone". Wrong thing to say! He looked shocked and said "You mean she's not in the hole anymore?!?!" I had to backpedal a little bit there, assure him she was still in her hole, etc. Forgot to think like a Kindergartener!
