An early happy birthday from me too! And I hope Don is doing well.... nothing serious, I hope.... check-up? Don't mind me, I'm just nosey... I've been away too long and missed most of what's going on with everyone until I see that someone is "feeling better" (didn't know they had been sick) or whatever else. In any case, I will send out a prayer too. :o)

Ah... cancer is a very scary thing to deal with (been there, done that... am now 14 years cancer-free). But he has a loving and caring wife there with him to see him through it all. I remember my cancer doctor telling me to "think positive and keep smiling... we WILL beat this and you WILL see your son grow up!". It was hard to think positive, but I tried my best, and with Matthew to make me smile and laugh (he was only 10 and didn't know that I had cancer... he was just being his sweet and fun self) I managed somehow.

But it definitely opened my eyes to everything that I had always taken for granted. I started really noticing the birds song, the smell of flowers, the taste of every bit of food I ate, how many stars there are in the sky on a very dark night and the gorgeous sunsets. Even though I was doing my best to think positively, I found myself wondering if I would be around to enjoy all these things much longer. I never forgot that experience, and still take the time to enjoy it all.... I will never allow myself to take any of it for granted again.

*hugs* for you and Don Things WILL be better! :o)
