Sunday AM: coffee klatsch, rcty, blog-surfing

Good Morning! Happy Independance Day to my USA friends! I 'know', it's tomorrow, but I 'think' we've got something planned, so may not be here to mark the day properly! Finished and felted my Madeleine Bag, hope to get a pic up on my 'blog today or Tuesday. I've currently got some 'must finish' projects.. felted clogs and some Tennessee socks, to be donated to the Veteran's Home. The housework needs some serious attention. . . especially my studio/office.. what a pigsty! Of course, Don's office/den is immaculate! The kitchen and bathrooms are ok, the living room looks... definitely 'lived-in' !! Tuesday, I'll be mailing out my sister's shawl, my cousin Fran's shawl, and an orange scarf for 'herman' (her hubby, Andy). We received MORE bad news, my cousin Pete's Adrenal cancer has spread to his lungs. . . I need to update my blog(s) yet this morning, then I'll go 'surfing'. Have a great day, everyone! Hugs, Noreen

Good morning, everyone! I've got the tea on...

We are going to see the Batman movie today. Then I have some cropped pants I need to sew this weekend. Plus I want to start a couple of other cross-stitched projects and a knitted Christmas stocking.

Next weekend we leave for five days in Bonita Springs, Florida, so I also need to start getting our clothes, etc. together for that. It is a business trip for my husband. He's on a committee for the Transportation Research Board and they are having their summer meeting (his first meeting to attend). I WAS looking forward to some snorkeling from the beach and I probably will still do some, but the latest shark attacks do not thrill me. His comment was, "Yeah, but what are the chances?"

Some other news I have is that my niece had her baby yesterday morning. They ended up having to do a C-section, but everyone is fine. They already knew it was going to be a girl. Her name is Madison Renee. She is a new generation for our family, so now I reall am a Great Aunt!

Well, I think I'll go start that stocking before we walk Ajax.

Hi Everyone,

Yes, it's a little after 5pm in hot upstate NY and I'm reading RCTY. It's my usual Sunday afternoon thing to do. The earlier part of the day is spent reading the papers then going for Sunday brunch and a ride before coming home.

Tonight I do hope to be able to crochet more on my squares. It's been too hot and humid some evening to even want to pick up the hook.

Hugs,

Nora

After having 40-some of my neareset and dearest over for a cookout last Sunday, DH & I are basking in solitude this weekend. He's trying to fix some computers and I actually laid out and labeled all the squares from the Sampler Afghan I've been working on for some time! I have 46 or so done out of 60, and I've been tacking the squares that I've completed together at the corners so I can see which of the three final afghans is closest to needing to be put together. Heaven knows how much extra edging I'll have to crochet on some of them; I can't believe I measured

12" so differently!

I've been quiet because I've been busy, mostly living at work.....also doing some projects and trying to make some headway on this aran sweater. I pulled it out to look at this morning, have one sleeve 2/3 finished, only to discover that I had twisted one of the cables in the wrong direction! I spent a very un-fun half hour frogging down the cable and re-knitting the thing. And it took more that one try -grrrr. I was watching an intersting program on t.v. the night before last about the young hiker, Aran Renken, who was hiking down a canyon in Utah when a boulder fell on him, pinning his arm against the canyon wall. He was stuck for 6 days until he cut off his own arm to free himself. Naturally, I was enthralled with the program and of course, they developed audio problems and there was no sound for the better part of an hour. I got smart and turned on the closed captioning so I could read what everyone was saying. This meant that I had to alternate between knitting cables on the sweater and reading the t.v, so I ended up messing up the big cable that runs up the middle of the sleeve! But what could I do? At least it's fixed now. Marie and the cats
