OT: Update on how my surgery went

Well, I had my knee operated on yesterday. The surgery went well (almost didn't happen, long story I'll be filing a complaint with the hospital/surgeon).

I have a wonderful surgeon, he even took pictures! I will be scrapping them. Oh!!! While I was being preped for surgery one of the nurses had an altered clipboard! It was really cute, the back of it was covered in SB paper that had big band-aids on it!! So of course we chatted about SB! DH & DS's just rolled their eyes and made funny comments! LOL That maybe why I got pictures, heehee

Anyway, surgeon removed all the damaged tissue and scar tissue, also smoothed out the back of the knee cap which was really rough (arthritis?). Surgeon was still upset that Worker's Comp waited more than a year to decide that something was really wrong. He said that I have some perment damage to the knee due to that. I was home within a few hours, feeling really good. Only took the heavy duty pain medicine after I went to bed last night as the cat jumped right in the middle of the knee. DH had to return to work, my Dad brought me and the boys home. DS's clucked over me worse than I cluck over them when they've had surgery! (I was very pleased as they really helped me out, plus it made me feel good that they were really concerned) A friend of ours brought over supper so we didn't have to worry about that. I start physical therapy on Monday and not sure about when I'll be returning to work, didn't get paper work on that yet. I must say that I have no pain this morning and it's been about 12 hours since I had my last pain pill, so I will currently deem the surgery a success!! I hope to scrap/play a little but think I will do that tomorrow or Sunday, I don't want to do too much too soon as I have done that in the past and then had to pay for it!! Better go and put ice on the knee, hope everyone has a great weekend

I'm glad it went so well for you Kenda! Here's hoping for a smooth recovery...

So, glad to hear everything is going well. You and my friend have both had surgery and she took pictures too. She's bring them tonight for Scrap Nite and wants me to help her getting a LO done of her foot surgery. I went with her when she had the cast put on and saw all the that was done in the surgery. I was thinking a good title for her LO would be "Frankenfoot".

Kenda I'm glad that everything went well with the surgery. Here's hoping for a speedy recovery.

Its great that your surgury went well and you arent in too much pain. It sounds like youll be back in business in no time at all! Your family really seems supportive and very helpful, I hope your physio goes well!!

Glad to hear your surgery went well. Can't wait to see your scrapbook layouts from the surgery. I think its Karen Foster who has a cute medical line out. She has some cute paper.

I'm glad to hear that your surgery went well. Good luck with your physical therapy and may you be back on 2 good knees in no time flat.

Thank you Cathy, so far everything is going good. It would be better if the cat didn't want to walk on the little incisions! lol

P. T. has gone well. Though I have only had one session. I actually felt better after going. Think it was that everything got stretched out a bit. I have exercises to do at home. I get lots of hlep from the cat and dog!

I will have to look for the paper from Kaern Foster! Not sure how the LO will look as I really only have the pictures from surgery....

Don't worry Linda, I am doing what the doc tells me. I have learned my lesson! I do feel much better now that it's all done. Amazing how much pain one can tolerate......

Thank you. I think PT will go just fine. The therapist is very nice and seems to know what he's doing. I just don't like the fact that I have to spend 3 weeks at work, doing "light duty". But I will get back to work soon enough.....

I'm glad it was a successful surgery, Kenda, even if the hospital and doctor's couldn't get their schedules together. I can't believe DH and DS's rolled their eyes at you getting pictures! What would they expect a scrapper to do? LOL Now just keep doing what the doc and PT says, and you'll be fine. :-)

I am following the orders to the letter! don't want anything to go wrong...though would like for my knee to fully extend, that hasn't been happening for nearly 6 months, I'm starting to get concerned.
