OT: Update on my uncle

You all know that I got back last Friday...While I was visiting my grandma, I went over to see my uncle (the one that was hurt, or course!) and while I was there I got to help my aunt clean the halo around his shin. It went from just below his knee to his toes.... Anyway they said that I have been the only one that has helped, much less volunteered to help do "torture care" as he calls it. It involves cleaning the skin around the pins, pushing the skin down so that the cleaning solution can get in there and cleaning the pins themselves... Needless to say I rather enjoyed it, and was dubbed the "nurses assistant" He went yesterday to get the bottom part of his halo taken off, the part from his ankle to his toes. The doctor said that if it is immoblie for too long that it can become arthritic and stiff. Things are starting to get better for him, and before too long he'll be able to take the back brace off and sit and interact normally. Im so very glad that you all sent positive thoughts and prayers for him, as they worked! Thank you all that did!

Glad he sounds like he's recovering quickly. You are a dear to help them when no one else is. I'll continue to keep him in my thoughts.

Sounds like he's doing wonderfully. How nice of you to help do "torture care"! It's great that he has a sense of humor about the whole thing. Will continue to send good thoughts his way.

So glad to hear you uncle is doing better! Way to go on being the "nurses assistant"! I am one of those poeple that couldn't handle being a nurses assistant. I would probably pass out. High praise for you since you can handle it!
