OT: Yahoo Web Beacons

I thought this might be of interest to those of you that use yahoo mail. I received it from one of my TLC groups and thought it worth sharing.

Yahoo is now using something called 'Web Beacons' to track Yahoo Group users around the internet and see what you're doing and where you are going--similar to cookies. Check their privacy statement at

formatting link
then about halfway down the page, in the section on cookies, you will see a link that says "web beacons". Click on the phrase "web beacons". That will bring you to a paragraph entitled "Outside the Yahoo Network." &nbsp&nbsp&nbsp In this section you'll see a little "click here to opt out" link that will let you "opt-out" of their new method of snooping. Once you have clicked that link, you are exempted.

Thank you M-C. I was wondering if you know if this is computer specific or based on the yahoo account. It didn't ask me to log into my Yahoo account so I'm thinking that I will have to do the same steps on my computers at home.

I thought that is was specific to your account, but I guess not if you didn't have to log in.

It said you would have to "opt-out" on each computer you have (if you have more than one) or use. Sandy
