Printing backwards in WORD?

I gave it a try this weekend. I don't know anything about WORD and had to Mickey Mouse (sorry Shelley :)) it around, but I ended up with the alphabet I needed printed in outline and backwards on the colored paper I wanted to use for the latest ABC album I'm working on. If anyone KNOWS how to do it and can give me pointers I'd greatly appreciate it. It worked out well except that I had to resize the letters and it was mostly a guess. Then I could only get 2 lines of letters per sheet and ended up printing on 3 sheets of color card stock when 2 would have worked.

Lynne,

You can either type up your letters normally in MS Word then see if your printer will print in T-Shirt Transfer mode. When you go File-> Print click on Preferences and change the paper type to T-shirt Transfer Paper and print on your cardstock as normal.

Or

Create your words/letters in Word Art (You'll need to have your drawing toolbar open) then click on Draw (in the drawing toolbar) and then "Rotate or Flip" and Flip Horizontal".

Have a play, its fun.

I did the Word Art feature and it wasn't easy. Once the letters were turned to Word Art and flipped they kind of liked the spot they were in and I couldn't move them around. Even though there was plenty of room for the work I did to fit on 2 pages I had to print them on 3, because the words wouldn't move. I thought "this has got to be easier."

Lynne - I'm not sure which version you have of MS Word - after you flip the Word Art - click on it to highlight it - then right click and select Format Word Art or click on the word Format in the Menu bar then click on Format Word Art - Select the Layout Tab and select "IN FRONT OF TEXT" - click ok - now highlight, left click and drag the word art where ever you want it. Hope this helps.

Choose Insert->Picture->Word Art. Pick the effect -- there's one for outline.

Type what you want.

Grab the right edge of the word art box and pull it to the left until your text is backward and as spread out as you want.

Right-click in the text box when you have a crosshair cursor. On the menu that appears choose Format Word Art. Pick the Layout tab, then click on Advanced. At the bottom of the box there are some checkboxes. Take the check OFF the option "Move object with text". That is what will allow you to move the box anywhere on the page that you want. Close the options box by "OK"ing out of it.

You can grab the box with your crosshair cursor and drag it around the page. Sometimes you have to fiddle with it to convince it you want a crosshair cursor rather than the other one (format text?).

Happy formatting!

Thanks all for the tips. I'm going to experiment tonight. From what little I did printing backwards on the card stock you like worked out really well for the album. I wanted the letters a little bigger, but was afraid to do any more until I sought counsel. :D So, tonight I'll give it another go.
