punchies

I have a question about using hand-held punches- I have a Marvy tiny snowflake punch and being so small I ran the paper through my xyron but now I squeeze and squeeze and I can barely get it to work! I punched some wax-paper with it as I read that here a while back but I was wondering- do you pound them with a hammer or use them right-side up versus upside-down or squeeze with your thumb or what?!!! I think in the future I will just buy the bigger punches :) I have always had good luck with my CM punches.

TIA, Lori K.

I don't punch the paper after it has been glued. I figure the extra glue will gum up my punches. Especially the small ones. If the punch is detailed. You don't want to stand on it or hit it. I had one break before. Punch your design, then run it through your xyron. It will work much better for you. :) Connie K

i was told to punch some tinfoil (hmm aluminam (sp) foil?) as well as grease proof paper to keep them sharp n cutty-like :) When mine wouldnt cut bugger all that seemed to fix it. HTH

I always punch upside down. I line my paper up and lay one hand flat over the punch and then smack it w/ my other hand. Sometimes I have to smack twice. I even hold my thumb punches upside down. You waste less paper if you can see where you're punching. What I hate is when the punch won't release and it gets locked up w/ your paper in it.
