Recipe Pages!

I got a book at MIchael's just for recipes... I get it with a coupon and it's pretty cute. I have 2 now but may need three soon! Tara

I bought another album to keep in the kitchen with the recipes in it.

I have 6 volumes of recipe pages. The 1st one I won as a door prise at the RCS Getaway we had in Clearwater, FL (Sept 99). Each person that was to attend the Getaway made 1 original page to create a beautiful scrapbook. I was very surprised (and honored) to win it. But that was only the beginning! I soon found myself jumping into these recipe swaps that were hosted on the group and eventually I was the hostess of several. I finally realized that if I kept scrapping recipe pages, I'd never get my photos scrapped so I passed that baton to Jenn or whoever else would like to host. Since the original album was in a nice leather photoalbum, I tried to keep the rest in the same color leather albums. This got to be very expensive so I converted to a 4" 3-ring binder for the last of them.

I've gotten some really yummy recipes this way! Susan - FL

I keep all of mine in a separate albums from my other scrapping. i think i have three whole albums of recipe pages now! of course...being the non-cook, i don't know that i've used more than 1 -2 of them. lol...i just had to ask my DSIL how to cook rice for a potluck i'm going to!!! lori shay, the NON-cook louisville

Here's my future recipe page plan... My children have said over the years what a great cook I am and that they want to use my recipes to open a restaurant when they grow up. And by the way mom you can be the cashier. Geeze thanks! Any how I thought I'd make a recipe album with all my favorite recipes and when the kids are old enough to leave the house I'd color copy them and give them their own books. Haven't thought out the color copying since it's about a buck a page isn't it?

Lynne....why not make multiples of each page up front and put the albums together as you go. They don't have to know about it and when the time comes, you can give them each an original set. I've made color copies of several pages and they just aren't the same! S

One of my motivations to get the recipes written down is so they can be passed on. I've been doing pretty well getting recipes from family of my favorites. Like my Grandma's Marcaroni Salad. It's the only one I'll eat and one I thought my goodness she's in her 80's I better get that recipe. My friend's call it Lynne's Killer Macaroni Salad... hahaha, but I know it's Grandma's Killer Macaroni Salad.

I really like the suggestion of making the kids their own books. Since I've just gotten started it really wouldn't be a problem making 3 pages for each one. Thanks for the wonderful suggestion and encouragment. Although after Lori's note I may just have to make 10 at a time and hide them away for when the albums are revealed in a few years and people start wanting them. hehe

I use a different book, three ring binder, for my recipes.

I will be starting another recipe swap as soon as I get this one out. I was holding on one person's recipes, which I have received and I will get out either Saturday or Monday.

Any idea's for the next swap? Should we do fall/holiday recipes? Would anyone be up for that?

how about something for the cold weather... like soups or stews or something like that.

How about slow cook recipes ( like crock pot ) or breakfast?

Well, we don't get cold weather down here, but I do like a good soup/stew as much as the next girl... I'd be up for that one! I've even got the best Red Wine Stew recipe to share! :)

Hey - I'm a newbie to this group. . .just checking in here and there. But the recipe swap sounds neat! How does it work and how do I get included?

I'd love the Crock-Pot idea! We have a Christmas Tree farm, and November/December are REALLY busy times for me. . .so crock-pot recipes would be really handy!
