Simple eraser trick

I hope this is useful for someone. It may be I'm just using the wrong kind of eraser, or maybe no one else even uses pencils, or maybe everyone already knows this trick. But, it was new to me, so I thought I'd share.

I sometimes draw or trace things with pencils and cut them out, and I sometimes measure and use pencil markings to help me line up stuff on my pages.

But when I have pencil marks that need to be erased, my eraser starts getting grey and dirty, and pretty soon instead of erasing it's just making smudges everywhere. Or it picks up stray smudges of glue and starts making a big mess.

So, to clean my eraser off, I discovered this simple trick: I just rub it on sandpaper and ta-da, good as new!

I hope this is helpful for someone, happy scrapping!

That's so neat.

I use pencils too but I went into the watercolor/oil paint aisle of AC Moore and got a "gum" eraser that you mold like playdough and when it gets yiccky just mold again. I've had it for two years and haven't had a problem and it also erases chalk, colored pencils, etc without problems.

I'll put a piece of sandpaper in with my pencils just incase I forget the gum eraser.

Yeah, I've never used a gum eraser, but I suppose it would be better for crafting.

I have used those grey moldabe erasers when I was in Art class in school. It worked great with no smudges. Thanks for the tip on the sandpaper for regular erasers! Linda

That's a great tip. I use those gum erasers as well for crafting but my school pencils always seem to get funky. Thanks for the tip.
