Snowflake hot card!

I think I finally got the hot card technique to work, after buying some parchment paper.

I did mine a little differently, because I love the translucent quality of tissue paper and wanted to take advantage of that. So, after I did my blue polka dot background the regular way, I melted a piece of white tissue paper onto a plastic sandwich bag, skipping the cardstock, but still with the parchment paper underneath and on top. At first I tried using the plastic wrap, but it was too flimsy. (I just wanted to part way melt it, but the plastic wrap just melted too much and there wasn't enough left to melt again.)

Then I folded and cut the snowflake, then unfolded it and melted it to the front of the card.

Question: I'm still not sure if I've melted everything enough, if maybe my iron doesn't get hot enough, because I could peel the paper completely off if I wanted to. I mean, it isn't falling off by itself, but I could get it off if I tried. Is that just as stuck as it's going to get, or should I iron it more?

Well, this looks great. Glad you got it to work. Mine is stuck on there pretty well but if i wanted to peel it off I probably could. But it is stuck on all the sides good enough that it isn't peeling.

That looks awesome Luna. What a neat idea to overlap. Thanks for sharing. I still need to get busy and try it. I haven't had time to look for tissue paper. I looked at k-mart and all they had was plain.

Hi Luna,

Your card turned out really nice. I love snowflakes and that you cut it yourself is even better. Now I tried peeling my Hot Card off. It wasn't easy. I didn't want to tear it, but I did try to loosen it figuring I could iron it back on. I couldn't loosen it easily. I know what you mean though. When I'm ironing... when I think I've done it enough I let it cool and then try to peel it. If it comes off easily I iron some more.

What a great card! I like the layering of the tissue paper and the snowflake was a great idea. I still have yet to try this!
