Starting up a monthly challenge

Hey everyone. It seems there are a few of us lacking in creative juices.

I would like to propose a monthly free-for-all challenge. We could have sign-ups for different months that would give each person (that wants to of course) a chance to lead a challenge. The challenges would be completely up to you to do. I just thought it might be a great way to get some of us back to scrappin again.

I would be more than happy to lead the sign-ups and let everyone know when it is their month to post a challenge. The challenges would be completely up to you to decide. It could be a sketch challenge, color challenge, theme challenge, embellishment challenge, technique challenge, etc.

It seems we are doing good with Christmas cards and that is probably because we have a challenge to motivate us. Motivation and new ideas is the key, I think.

Whatta say? Anyone interested? Anyone have any other suggestions?

I wouldn't mind joining in on the fun but I wouldn't be able to complete every month (some months I have a busier work schedule then other months and then the weekend is catching up with my friends and family).

Chrissy (and everyone else), This would in no way be an obligation. You don't have to complete the challenge every time it is posted, you don't have to complete it at all. It will just be a monthly challenge posted by a fellow R-C-Ser for your scrappin pleasure if you so choose. I just want a way of helping everyone stir the creative juices. Please don't feel obligated to complete 100% of the time.

Sounds great to me! I have been doing a lot of blog challenges (challenges on other crafters blogs) and it has been helping me get a lot of cards completed. I really need to get my butt kicked into gear for scrapbooking and I think this sounds like the challenge for me. Thanks for steping up Crystal with a wonderful idea. I still have so much to scrap, I still have our 2006 WDW album to finish I have a huge dent in it but I have aways to go. It's easier for me to sit down to make a card or two then it is a page.

Great! It sounds like we definitely have some interest. I am going to leave this open to let others chime in. I will work on writing up the details and then ask for everyone to sign up for a month. It looks like Sandy already called Jan 09! lol. =D

Hopefully we can get enough members to go through Dec of next year. Wouldn't that be awesome? If we don't have enough I will see if some want to volunteer 2 months or I can fill in the months that are left over.

I will take Feb of next year, no way I'll be able to squeeze it in this year but if things change and a month is open this year I'll take it.

I play by doing people's challenges.

I will do July 2009 & October 2009 if someone will remind me. I haven't bought a 2009 calendar yet.

You know what, this is the kick in the toosh I needed.

I'll also take November 2008 and I have an idea already for all three months. Now if I can get through tomorrow with the Lawyer's I can have fun on Saturday as I have suddenly a reason to scrap. I'll share tomorrow. shhh I'm at work

I'm so excited about starting a LO challenge that I wanted to challenge myself for the month of September 2008. Since it's half over I don't want to make the challenge much more than just do a LO. I've had a picture that keeps turning up around the house of me and my dog when she was about a year old. Just one photo that I've not known what to do with. Just one photo doesn't seem worth scrapping. BUT if it were a photo of my kids I would scrap it in a minute. So, decided that a photo with me and my cute pup was worth scrapping. I've meant to do an album of just the pup and haven't started it. So, that's my challenge. Scrap this photo and start the "Little Star" album.

Good for you Lynne! I think scappin pics of ourselves is a great thing to do. I have an "about me" album that is pretty much never ending. =D Good luck getting your Little Star album going.

I will definately watch for your challenges and participate as I can in that capacity. It is indeed a wonderful idea and it will be fascinating to see how people's juices differ :)

This sounds like fun....I would love to take a month but right now with having the kids, etc I just can't commit to anything but holding onto my sanity...lol

looking forward to having a *theme* or a commitment for the month to aim toward!!!....
