UGH! Stupid sizzix!

My sizzix machine is on the obvious fritz. It will not cut shapes at all unless there is a lot of a shim under it. Even then I cannot guarantee that it is going to cut right. No matter what the die, some parts are cut and others are not, with a new cutting pad. I noticed the top portion (where the handle is connected to) is loose but all the screws appear to be tight. Is there a remedy for this or do I just need to toss it? I really need some

1" squares for a class on Monday (teaching math) and am now resorting to cutting them with my paper cutter. HMPH! I am wishing on a Cricut but until then, I will be ever so grateful for some assistance with this thing. Jacqui

Have you been to the sizzix site? I found this, but not sure if it will help you.

I believe Joann's has 1 inch squares in various colors precut for under $10 a package, could you use something like that instead? Carolyne in TX

YEA!! Chrissy helped me fix the sizzix. The problem she had was not the problem I had. But it encouraged me to take the thing apart and find the loose part and I fixed it! Good as new again! Jacqui

Advice on cutting the 1" squares with your papercutter (which would be my tool of choice anyway): Tape a ruler or thick cardstock at the 1 inch point from your blade. Then just snug the paper up to that, which is a lot quicker than having to look carefully at where you put the paper. Plus it gives you more accuracy from cut to cut. They will all be exactly the same.
