Well, Cyclone Larry hit North Queensland with a vengeance Dave. It has completely wiped out banana plantations and sugar canes, and has destroyed thousands of homes as well. One article I read said the winds reached
290km/h. It's certainly not in the same category as "Katrina", but devastating none-the-less. I was only saying to DH last night watching the news, that it would be nice to be able to afford to take a month and drive north and help out some of the families to clean up and rebuild. Thanks for your concern, I pray that everyone is safe and sound too. luv Cec...xxx
Cec,
I'm so relieved to hear from you. I hope your fellow country men and women are ok.
If you have a similar thing like our Red Cross where I could donate water, diapers, etc I'd be happy to. Granted I'm all the way in NYC but I have to go to BJ's (a warehouse type supermarket) anyhow.
Hugs, Kate
I'm glad you're ok. I lived through Hugo, a storm not NEARLY as bad as Katrina and it was plenty for me. Hope never to see another one even like that.
I should explain, that I live in New South Wales, and the cyclone hit far North Queensland. We were never in any danger here, we live about 3 days drive away from the effected areas. It is terrible though, listening to the reports on the radio etc. luc Cec...xxx
Glad to hear it missed you Cec. I have those people involved in my thoughts.
