Christmas 2012

That's right, 2012! Today I went to WalMart's 1/2 price sale and got a couple Christmas fleece throws for $2.50 and I plan to use them to make a cute red jacket for Reese dog (doxie) for Valentine's. So far, the temperature here has not been cool enough for him to need a jacket when he takes a walk, but it will be getting cold pretty soon. He is a dark brown color and the red fleece will really look good on him. Also, I got a green fleece with Christmas figures on it to make something for next December. Hope everyone is taking advantage of the 1/2 price sales! Barbara in Florida.

The fabric sounds very nice, But, No, thank-you; before & after-Christmas sales are not for me; I don't like shopping all that much anymore and being in crowds makes me very nervous now. Most of the time, I shop online. Besides, I'm staying inside where it is nice & cozy warm. It's been raining off & on since Friday with temps in the 40s, 24/7. Besides, I came down with a cold last week, no sinus infection, allergies or flu--just a plain old-fashioned cold, and have felt miserable all week. Now that I feel almost human, DS has the same symptoms. And he's supposed to return to work tomorrow for the 4-days. At least, both this week and next are for 4-days.

Shopping in crowds is scary for me too. Long ago, a goofy surgeon messed up a broken bone in my foot. The next surgeon called it a 'non-union' meaning I needed a splint from my hip to join the bones. NOT going to happen. I just have to be very careful that nobody's going to step on me. Sort of like being a Chihuahua. TMI the grandchildren would call more than you wanted to know but that's what keeps me from yelling "Charge" and joining the after Christmas sales. I used to really enjoy them. Anyhow, a fleece throw at 1/2 price is also just wonderful for the backing of a Christmas tree skirt. Ours is Mickey Mouse on red fleece - really too pretty to hide. Polly

I spent several of my younger years working in retail stores and this time of year brings back scary memories from the 'other side' of the sales counter. If you think YOU are tired after a long day of holiday shopping, think of what it does to the poor sales clerks....!

I've got this week off rom work and like Polly and Emily I'm staying in side, near my sewing machines and my nice, warm pellet stove. We are in the middle of a 'winter storm watch.' 2" of the white stuff so far and it's still coming down. We didn't have a wite Christmas, but better late than never, so I'll finally get to put my new studded snow tires to good use.
