Costume Done!

I've been down with a really *nasty* chest cold-sinus infection-ear infection for over two weeks, and I was afraid we wouldn't get it finished, but DGD came over today, we marked the hem (all that was left to do), eased it in and machine blind-hemmed her purple "witch" costume. DD sent me a picture tonight of DGD in the full regalia and make up, I'll try to get it, along with the "in-progress" pics up in the next couple of days. This was a teaching project, and she did remarkable well for such a complicated pattern, I am guessing she actually stitched about 98% of it. She listens and follows instructions

*very* well! :-)

Happy Dancin' here! (When I'm not coughing my guts up.)

Hope you feel better really soon. You can't be unwell in charge of a sewing machine!

Please take care of yourself, Beverly, and get well soon. Oh, I know the costume is gorgeous, looking forward to seeing photos. The DGD must have a great sense of satisfaction at doing most of the stitching herself and you have to be very proud of her. Emily

...and today I finished the purple panne velvet, lined with black satin, hooded cape! I'm delivering it over to DGD in just a sec, I'll get pics up soon.

Sorry you are feeling poorly! Have some chicken noodle soup. :)

That's wonderful that she dove right in and was willing to do that much of it. SHe will be so very proud of herself when she wears it. And I know she will be tickled to pieces with the cape you made her too!!!!!!!!

Proud??? Me??? The kids are allowed to wear their costumes the last half of the school day, Blair told me the other kids loved it and were amazed to learn she had sewn it herself. ;-)

Gack, NOoooooo! My least favorite soup, Mom practically force fed it whenever we were sick as kids. Now give me a nice steaming bowl of beef stew or clam chowder.... ;-)

She was thrilled with the cape, and loved the strokes she received at school when the other kids and teachers learned she had sewn her costume. An altogether fabulous time was had by all! ;-)

She did a great job. She obviously had a great teacher. Now the teacher has to rest and get better. Juno

Hi Beverly, I loved the picture of Blair! She looks so grown up! I bet she is thrilled you have the time to spend with her. We never seem to finish the projects I start with the kids because I am spread so thin. And now that I have time, they are at school! The costume looks great.

Thanks, Kirsten! I do love spending time with her, and she is such a good *attentive* student, it's a real pleasure to start teaching her to sew. I wasn't very good at teaching my two DDs (too much of a perfectionist), but I seem to have mellowed with age. ;-)

Carve out time on the weekends for projects? I know how full-up your life must be, though.

Oh yay!!!!! You managed to hook us another one Beverly! Good jobber!!!!!!!! ;) She did a wonderful job. Was obvious she thoroughly enjoyed that costume and she should be very proud of what she accomplished. I bet that's not the last project you two do together. :)

Hope you feel better soon.

Absolutely gorgeous costume and such a beautiful girl as well. I hope you are feeling much better by now, Beverly. Grandmothers must take care of themselves. Emily

;-) All additions so the sewing-sister-brother-hood (not leaving out the guys here) are joyously welcomed!

Yes, she really did. I was so pleased that she listened so well and translated what she learned to action.

It's not the first either, she *loves* the XL5000 embroidery machine!

Thanks, I am getting just a wee bit better each day.
