I find that soaking in laundry bleach (sodium hypochlorate) draws infections right out.
DH now and again asks, hopefully, whether I've cut my finger: washing dishes in a mixture of bleach and laundry soap -- dish soaps were reformulated to be incompatible with bleach a few years ago -- is ever so much more pleasant than walking around with one's finger in a shot glass!
