Going West

We suddenly decided "No time like the present", so we are off to Sacramento to see the grandbabies next week. It was a combination of things. First, I realised it is going to be a LOOOONG time before I am completely better. There is a 3yr 10mo girl whom we saw once for ten minutes while she was an infant, and a 22mo boy whom we have never yet seen. The air fares this month are a LOT cheaper than they will be in the summer, I was noodling around looking them up ten days ago. So we will be there from April 18 to 25. NO Kate, I am NOT taking a sewing machine on the plane!! I have a new piece of knitting set up on a circular needle so I don't poke my seatmates with the needles. I am also taking all my meds, and all dh's as well, and they are going in the hand baggage in case the suitcases get lost.

We have seen most of the touristy places in Sacto, and the object is to spend a week cuddling little ones. There will not be time for a side trip to San Fran this time, or to Berkeley - the furthest we could possibly go would be perhaps Davis - we are not planning to rent a car.

That said, are there by any chance any fabric shops or the like in Sacramento which I should not miss?

What fun, I can't think of a better reason to travel. Have fun, be safe, sorry I can't help with fabric shop suggestions.

If you don't get any responses here, post over at RCTN and ask The Karen. She lives in the Sacramento area and I'm sure she could give you some info :-). CiaoMeow >^;;^<

What, not even a little one? ;)

The knitting sounds good, though. Have a great snuggle session with those kids!

Have a fabulous time, snuggling with the grands. Can't imagine not seeing my little guy every few weeks. I hope they warm up to you quickly, and are not shy with you. Be sure to take some relationship makers, OM, like stuffed cuddlies, etc. Dora the Explorer; Go, Diego, Go; and Cars are all really big with the littles right now. If the older one is a girl, anything Barbie is good. My grandson has two older little girl pals living across the alley, and he actually had to have a Barbie because that's all the girls wanted to play with! He also loves sea turtles and other critters, because of Go, Diego, Go, who rescues animals.

Enjoy!

Olwyn Mary, What a wonderful plan. Seeing the grand babies is so good for them and you.I'm so happy you are doing this trip on the spur of the moment. It makes life so much more fun. You are so right not to wait until you are all better. We all tend to put to many things off until tomorrow. Have a great time with your family. It will be the best medicine ever. Give the little ones a big hug for me. Juno
