Hi Im newby but need help Alber industrial machine

Hi everyone. Sorry I am normally a equine forum person, but I need help. I have sourced a Alber Industrial Sewing Machine off Freecycle. ( for those not in Uk it is a forum which you pass on to others, items you no longer have use for, saves dumping or using space in your home) I want it to mend my horse rugs and alterations. It runs fine having been altered for domestic supply as origianally it was 3 phase out fo a factory.

But I cant thread it up or get the bobbin threaded up. I feel stupid. I have sewn for years and struggled with my domestic machine with horse rugs or had to hand over to a specialist. I have used knitting machines for years so taking things apart are not unknown to me. But I am totally mystified. Can anyone help me please.

I am not sure what info anyone needs. But ask away or point me in the direction to get a guide to sort out what should be simple.

I can take a picture but not sure how you post in here.

Hello Susan. We do have Freecycle here in the colonies. ;-)

I can't find anything on an Alber machine name. It's possible that this was a badged machine -- a machine made by a company that put retailer's names on them for selling in a chain of outlets.

You could do a little browsing at

to see if you can spot a machine with the same setup. Don't be put off by the URL - it's "Cutter's Exchange" LOL!

Pics are a big no no. They take up to much bandwidth. Do you have a web page of your own or are you able to set up a free one. There are free sites that will allow you to do that. I think Kodak has something and shutter fly is another. I know others will chime in with good and probably better sites to use. Juno

Pictures can't be posted to the ng, but if you have web space at your ISP you can post a link to your pictures. If you don't have a way to do that and want to email the pictures to me, I'll be glad put them on my space and post the links for you.

No need to feel stupid - these things happen to all of us....

How about getting lessons from the person who gave it to you? Or at least some pointers and find out if they have the manual?
