Janome Schoolmate or Sewist 625?

Jun 15, 2008 3 Replies

Hello, I'm new here, I'm from Milan, Italy.

I want to buy a new machine and I can't decide between Janome Schoolmate and Sewist 652. I used to have a Necchi 512 which broke last year and, despite trying countless new machines, I haven't found one which is as good as my old dear Necchi. (New Necchi models are out of question, since they are among the worse around).

I'm not a beginner and I prefer mechanical machines. Can you help me with my choice? Thanks for your help.

Between those two models, I'd go with the 625E. It has a needle threader, needle up/down button and speed control which the Schoolmate does not have. It also has a one-step buttonhole, and several more stitches than the Schoolmate.

i would reccomend a necchi Supernova Ultra (or mark ii) ;) that would become a dear beloved i daresay

it is mechanical and you are in the correct place to appreciate such a machine
