Hi! I'm hoping you can help with your opinions. I have some Christmas money dedicated to a sewing machine. My options are (original plan) a new Janome Sewist 521, OR a beautiful used Bernina 802. The Janome is $225, and the Bernina is $499. I don't really have an extra $275 to part with, but could pay if over the next couple of months if it's worth it. The problem is that I don't know if it is. I'm very new to sewing, and while I don't want to get frustrated with a crummy bottom-rung machine, I also don't want to over-invest.
