Large Santa Claus Buckle

Where can I buy a large belt buckle for a santa clause costume my wife is making? Thank you.

Depending on how professional you need the buckle to be, I have made some very durable and quite fine buckles by covering one or multiple layers of heavy cardboard cut to size and shape with lame' using a spray adhesive. Joy

Corrugated cardboard or craft foam will look OK if they don't have to actually "work".

Also, original poster, it would help if you told us where you are as this is a world-wide group and the suppliers I can suggest (MacCulloch & Wallis, Duttons for Buttons) may not be any use to you.

Thank you, Joy. A good idea but the person we are giving the suit to will be wearing it daily--he is a volunteer brightening the main street of our little town. The buckle would probably not hold up under these conditions. Jack

Try going to Tap Plastics and see if they can fabricate something for you, and then you can spray-paint it.

Yes, the plastic idea should work. We have several plastic companies in Detroit that sell scrap and I often cut it to shape for various projects. Painting plastic is trickier, although there are now some plastic spray paints on the market (made for re-painting Little Tykes toys I think) but I don't believe I have seen gold). You could however go to an automotive paint with a plastic adhesion additive but then you are talking about huge costs.. O.K. Back to the thought of buying a pre-made buckle. I don't think I have ever seen any to be honest but I will keep brainstorming. Joy

Actually, don't you think black might be better? Karen Maslowski in Cincinnati

If you want a real leather belt on the wide side, with a proper working buckle, try the suppliers of re-enactment/fair clothing.

SewStorm's cat walked across a keyboard and came up with this:

Seems like an item that Britex in San Francisco would have on their notions floor. Or, a costume/gag shop ( we have Display House here in my city) would sell costume accesories like that

Yes, yes, yes...of course! You're right. Don't know what I was thinking when I suggested gold. Joy
