Well the boy came home yesterday with this note: "Oberon Costume: woodcrown with emerald jewel, long purple cape, pointed ears, black wig, pointyears." lol I think he really wants pointy ears.... ;)He's in the GT (gifted & talented) class this year. They get to do thingsthat are above grade level, but still Interesting! This quarter they arestudying Shakespeare. And his class (5th grade) will get to do a scene atthe Shakespeare Festival next month. They chose (of course!) the scene fromMidsummer with Bottom (and his transformed head) and the fairies.Luckily I have some buckram in my stash. And I suppose it was lucky (?????)that the massive thunderstorm week before last killed one of thenon-fruiting pear trees in the backyard. We went out last night and cutsmall branches off of that pile. I figure a little buckram, a few dozensticks and the hot glue gun with a purchased "emerald" from the craft aisleand we'll have a decent crown. Of course I can make capes and robes justabout in my sleep. Hopefully the Halloween costume aisle will yield a blackwig and ponty ears. (Mustn't forget the pointy ears!!!! lol)His teacher knows I sew quite a bit, so she just told him to tell me what heneeded costume-wise. ;) I'll post pictures when I get it all done. I justhad to share that note with y'all. I knew you would get as big a chuckle asI did. ;)Sharon

Perfect! I use Sharpies for all kinds of non-traditional uses. Recently, I was helping a friend cut the rounds for picture buttons for the booster club

and the manual cutter was really hard to line up perfectly, I kept getting just a smidge of white at the edges. So, Sharpie to the rescue.Beverly

Good thinking!!! They are great for all sorts of things. I read somewhere in one sewing magazine or another that you can also use them if you have a "thin spot" in some machine embroidery. Just dab with a Sharpie that matches the embroidery thread and there ya go. ;)

Although, I did have to explain to my DD that they are not the best choice for making "temporary" tattooes on her brother. **ahem** lol

I did notice a few pieces of Charles Dog hair glued to the crown. lol
