OT and not so OT updates and comments

DH and I returned from a little over 2 weeks on Cape Cod. We do not have TV there or a computer.I rely on the newspapers for news and the library computers for email and an occasional peek at google groups to see what's happening in the sewing world. The computers were not functioning very well this time so I could not do much in the way of posting to the group. I want to express my sympathy to Marlys. Life has been so difficult for her these past months. I hope she can now find closure. Olwyn Mary certainly is also having more than her share of hardship. I hope you can soon return to your home and find that you can resume some kind of normal life. I am so thankful that you and your family are safe. That is what really counts. On a happier note I was delighted to see how well Beverly did at the State Fair. You have lots to crow about. I know from your posts that you are not the crowing kind of person. I'm so proud of your accomplishments. Now on to sewing. I didn't take my sewing machine with me this trip. I did take a pattern, several books on alterations, many different colored pencils and lots of blank pattern paper. I also took some needles and thread and a lot of patience for me. I spent a lot of time drawing my patterns out on the paper and very carefully making pattern adjustments, cutting out inexpensive fabric and doing hand basting. I think I finally have a better understanding of my own body flaws and how to accommodate them. There are a few things I need to work on but I really feel like I'm arriving. I enjoyed every minute I spent on the pattern and I spent a lot of minutes. It was a good place to work on this puzzle. No distractions from things like the TV and Computer.I learned a lot I have a long way to go. I'm no longer afraid to slash and spread a pattern. that has always been a big hang up for me.I think that now that I've had this opportunity to practice I should be happier with my results.

Isn't it amazing what we can achieve without our little helpers in life like TV and computers! Sounds like you had a relaxing time that also allowed you to catch up with your self. Now to turn the plans into reality...
