Sew on Magnetic Snaps

Is there such a thing as a sew on magnetic snap or are they all applied with pliers?

I found some that need no "special" tool and have washers. I'm going to try them. I have a hankering for some clutch purses (so much left over fabric to use!) and figured this was the best way to close them other than Velcro, and I'm not too keen on that.

there are magnetic strips, for window treatments, that you could easily enclose into a tab or a seam.

Just be careful not to put magnets anywhere near your credit cards or work ID (if you have card readers at doors) because they will scramble the data.

So true. I've stopped buying purses with magnetic snaps for just that reason. I went through several debit cards and keycards before I figured out what was causing my trouble and I've stayed away ever since then.

Odd, I have used my magnetic purse for 3 years, with magnetic cards and proximity sensors inside, no problem.

For the purse I made for DD of scraps of her wedding gown, I used a magnetic clasp like:

I found on the notions wall at a local fabric store. The prongs punch through the fabric, and are bent over a washer on the wrong side. I did not have to use pliers. I covered the outside of the area with one of the flower motifs and crystals. A picture of the purse is in the photo area at the link in my .sig.
