skort patterns

Jul 03, 2008 6 Replies

Does anyone know where I might purchase a couple of nice skort patterns? I have checked almost all of the pattern maker's sites and skorts are not even in their out-of-print section. I'm looking for the type that looks like a skirt (front & back) with shorts underneath. Preferrably with pockets on the outside (for golf tees, balls, stuff).Much like the Izod type of skort. All responses are appreciated. Thanks, Judy Madill

a more DIY type of product, find a shorts pattern that fits the way you want, then make a skirt pattern from the shorts pattern (see bottom for attempt at describing how to do this), put slits of an appropriate length on the side seams and pockets in the shorts pattern, do the vertical seams and hems independently (leaving slits that will need to be finished in the skirt side seams to allow access to the pockets) and then sew both as one unit onto the waistband. To create a skirt pattern for this purpose from the shorts pattern, trace the waistline, draw a line down center front on the straight grain, trace the shorts side seam line down to the hip level and then taper to on the straight grain if you want a straight skirt or flare a tad if you want an A-line skirt.

Hi Judy I don't know if you are still looking for a skort pattern, but I just ordered one from KWIKSEW.COM. They have two different ones for women. They seem to be similar, except one has an elastic waist and the other has a narrow waist band.

Hi Judy. I sent you a message a few days ago. I received my pattern in the mail today. It only took 3 days! Any ways, I think you will like the Kwik Sew pattern number 3232. It has a pattern for a skort, cardigan, and tank. The skort is a skirt that has shorts underneath AND it has side pockets on both sides. You really need to check this pattern out!
