Old White sewing machine and table

Some may recall that some months ago I mentioned on here that I had an ancient White machine on eBay. Got lots of watcher but not a single bid over at least a year's time. One member of this group did say he would buy it for a few dollars if I were ever in his part of the state. Our local sewing machine shop didn't even want it as a gift that he could use as a window display.

So yesterday I put it on Craig's List for $20. Within two hours I had a taker. He arrived about 7 PM in his car and took it away. Hmmmm. No weeks for results, no packaging and posting, no PayPal and its exorbitant fees, no eBay and its fees.

Yup. I love Craigslist. It is what Ebay was originally supposed to be

-- no bozos running under-the-legal black-market businesses and no preferential treatment toward those listing items for sale to the detriment of those wishing to buy.

It's a virtual community bulletin board. The guy who runs it runs it for the benefit of the users, started it as a community service, and never expected to make money from it but life happened and now he makes a lot of money from it, but he is not motivated by money. It has classifieds, job ads, housing ads, community message boards for things like classes, events, pets, child care, etc., you can post a resume there.
