well, i'm starting him weaving on a little table loom. it doesn't currently have sheds, but they can be added as he progresses if he wants to get into fancier weaves. i also have a small Mirrex tapestry loom that i bought for bead weaving, but can obviously be used for regular tapestry weaving (on a small scale... 12" x 18", i think). it warps very fine so i don't think he can manipulate that yet though. he is really enjoying the wet felting, at least through the prefelt stage where it starts holding together. when it gets to the hard felting stage it becomes difficult for him, so i usually finish that part. i'm pleased that he takes an interest in handwork.

i wonder, as energy becomes more scarce & expensive, if public areas like transport & shops will switch to more reasonable temperatures. there really isn't any reason to cool a bus to 16C. i keep my car set to 20C, which seems quite cool in the summer & warm in the winter. my house is generally 68 in winter & off in the summer, so it's a few degrees cooler than outside, but not much. it rarely gets over 37C here (winters can get to -40 though )
