Afromosa?? Anything special about this wood?

Hi John, I have some of this n my shop but haven't turned a lot of it yet. It is somewhat heavy but not very heavy. Unlike teak it has a closed grain structure, more like a maple. The piece I have has some figure which look like eyes, a good piece will have a lot of that look. It turns easily with no tearout and finishes nicely. Hi, be careful you can get septic splinters and or skin irritations, it is a substitute in the trade for teak, can be very dusty, very irregular grain. polishes well. Boots
