Anchorseal in Canada??

Does anyone know where I can buy Anchorseal in Canada (maybe even in Vancouver, B.C.)? I had to pay $30 taxes an duty on one gallon from UC Coatings in the US, and UPS is giving me the run around!

thanks!

Mike

I believe Lee Valley's Log End sealer is really Anchorseal. Jacques Coulombe in Montreal sells it but I don't see it obviously listed on his site.

Call or email him, very friendly service.Island Woodcraft sells a product called End Seal which may be the samestuff. Located on Vancouver Island, very friendly service also.http://www.islandwoodcraft.ca/cart/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=881I think Jacques Coulombe may be cheaper if he has it, was when I bought somefrom him, but the shipping may not be overcome by the PST savings. Worth alook though. Billh

Mike I buy it direct from UC Coatings. They ship it out of Ontario.

Man, this sucks, I ordered it from them thinking they had a Canadian shipping point. My 1-gallon can got here (26$US or so) and I had to pay another $25 Cdn Taxes and Duty on it, because they shipped it form the US address!!! Boneheads! Pretty sure I won't but it from them again... also UPS screwed up and it took an extra week and 5 phone calls from me before they delivered the bloody stuff.

Thanks for the feedback. It sucks alright. When using the Canadian shipping point what would the delivered price (CAD) be for one gallon. Or do Canadian have other procurement options.

Bill Contact UCCoatings about the problem. They are great folks to work with and at worst will apologize and make sure it does not happen to someone else.

Hello Lauritzen; A log or wet wood sealer is available from Lee Valley tools, who have a store in Vancouver on Marine Drive South by the Oak Street bridge(I think). The catalog # is 56K03.24 and it costs $36.50 can. for 3.78l. which is a U.S. gallon I think. Woodchucker's Supply in toronto also have a sealer (I am certain I bought some from WC in the past). I could not find any on their website which is a pretty basic site.

ever I order any thing from the U.S. I double the US price to get theCan. equivalent. Difference is: exchange on the item plus cost of shippingplus any surcharge(to Canada) in Can $'s plus GST and PST and the $5.00handling fee by Can. Post(mail). Your $26 US would work out to $52 Can. AndI never let anyone ship me any goods by a courrier co. UPS, etc will add onthe cost of their broker which can be $50.00 or more. However, any personcan clear their own goods through Can.Customs if you know where the Customs"Long Room" is located.Edward

Mobil makes a similar product called Cer M, which you may be able to find locally or find a Canadian shipping point.

Hello James pointed out that the wet sealer from Woodchucker's is listed on a flyer that is included with the catalog that is sent out. Their price is $18.00 Can. for 4l. I would not be surprised if John at Woodchucker"s has the sealer repackaged into the 4 l. plastic jugs in his warehouse. The flyer says that the End Seal is "now winterized with Propylene Glycol". Lauritzen; Try making contact with the two Wood turning clubs in the BC lower mainland. They may have another local source or they may be buying the stuff in bulk and repackaging it for their members. I hope this Helps Edward in Winnipeg "

I just received the technical specification sheet for Mobilcer M in pdf format. So far the formula appears to resemble that of anchorseal. If someone wants a copy let me know. They only ship from their distributors in 45 gallons drum and have no shipping point from Canada. I do not have any price yet. If this Mobilcer M is equals Anchorseal then we no longer depend on a sole procurement source.

If any of you live near the NY state border to Canada - drive down to Buffalo and pick it up directly from U.C. Coatings. Heck, if you have a local club in your area and have lots of guys who use Anchorseal, buy a 55 gallon drum and divvy it up. A 55 Gallon drum was under $200 U.S. last I recall.
