Bandsaw advise wanted

I want to purchase a bandsaw that will primarily be used for cutting blanks for turning. My question is - What do I realistically need for height? Is

10" adequate? Or should I go for more? I realize that HP must be adequate to handle the heighth. Do the riser block saws like Delta have enough HP? Or would it be better to go to the 10" Jet or Laguna or maybe the more expensive Minimax?

Personally, I would recommend at least 1 1/2 hp (like the approx $800 Delta).

I am using a "cheap" Reliant 14" BS with riser block to give me approximately 12" depth of cut for blanks. It has a 1 hp motor running on

220. Didn't hack it initially as the FPS of the blade was too small. Fellow at Timberwolf talked me through changing pulleys and removing totally the jack pulley that was in there! Cuts like a charm now. I would prefer a slightly stronger motor, but this one is work just fine with lots of different wood being cut.
