Buffing on Krylon

OK one more question

I was looking in my cabinet of chemicals and came across a can of Myland's wax and thought that this might be a good add-on for the Krylon matte finish to bring up a bit more of a shine. Do any of you have experience with this - is basically buffing over Lacquer? I can leave it as is and the items should be bought but the extra shine might bring a few more bucks.

Thanks for your help!

If you're looking for a slick surface, sure. If it's "depth" you want, use of the matte style lacquer has already taken that out of the picture. You'll want the gloss version, which is clearer and harder, for that.

Shellac is great, easy, and doesn't offend my wife's nostrils.

I took a few of the pieces that I sprayed with the Krylon Matte Finish and buffed them on slow speed ( OK one more question

What, exactly, is Krylon? Is it a lacquer? A polyurethane? An acrylic? What are its advantages?

I've been trying some Minwax semi-gloss polyurethane in spray cans this week. I have found that it works pretty well.

============================= Barry, Krylon is the brand name for a popular acrylic spray. Advantages are a predictable finish, fast drying, relatively free of runs and sags. I like it because it is available in many locations, so if I need some late, I can go to an all night Walmart or Target and usually find what I need.
