Is Cocobolo safe to use for salt and pepper mills?

Just don't go for a pee while you're turning them - you may get a lot of irritation!! It is a beautiful wood though

While i agree that cocobolo makes beautiful pieces, it is so irritating that I use a dust mask when I am doing anything with it. It just seems like basic prudence not to use it in something that has any contact at all with stuff that later goes in your stomach.

David Ellsworth got his start turning salt shakers (some of which) were cocobolo.

I'd be leery of it, as cocobolo contains the same irritant as poison ivy. I have no idea of this is an actual concern in use, just me being a fraidy cat.
