course/tuition in the York area

As a newbie, before dashing in and buying my first lathe and just getting stuck in there, I was hoping to find someone to help me get started. I have searched a fair bit, but can find no one in the York or East Riding area. I am of course willing to pay, either money or payment in kind ( I am a programmer/ website creator). If anyone can recommend anyone I would appreciate it

thanks

Have you checked with your local collage to see if it has a woodwoking program?? Look for a turning club in your area and maybe you could find a mentor.

Check out the Register of Professional Turners or the Association of Woodturners of Great Britain (AWGB). Links below. There are listings for tutors on both sites.
