I'm a hooker

Made and used my first hook tool today and it's really nice. It's a specialty tool, of course, and not nearly as useful as my skew, shallow/deep fluted gouges, or roughing gouge are but for what it does, it does it quite nicely I must say.

I had never really been interested in the hook or ring tools but I wanted some traditional types of tools (most of them hooks) to go with my minimalist Japanese lathe I built the other day. So it seemed like a good time to give it a try. It works well with both that lathe and my others.

Are there modifications to the "standard" hook and/or ring tools that are most often seen being sold commercially that others have seen or made themselves?
