HEADSUP to Canadians Canadian Tire has their HHS turning set for $99 this week.

If this is the same set that they have put on special in past years, then the quality is quite good. The main drawback is that most folks will end up using, as with most sets, 1 tool, maybe 2, out of the total set, hence the price is in reality not all that great.

I disagree. This 6 pc set contains a roughing gouge, bowl gouge, spindle gouge, diamond parting tool, skew chisel and round-nose scraper. I find it hard to believe that a turner wouldn't use all or almost all of these tools. If you already have most of these tools you aren't looking for a set anyway.
