Jig for making quick & dirty mini birdhouses

Darrell recently posted his method for making mini birdhouses on WC. I do essentially the same thing, but I hope he will post his method and comments here.

I made an aluminum jig that I think speeded up turning repeated batches of the body by one step, tho it limited the hollowed dimension to one size. Nothing more than a short 7/16 in. long X 5/8 in. dia. scored tenon on a #2MT taper for driving the drilled out body.

Slob that I am, I have made batches of mini birdhouses from solid light weight timbers such as cedar, even from fir stud cut offs. I'm watching out for the hollowing police! :)

Here in the UK, I suppose we can do many things on the WC but I never thought of making mini birdhouses on it. Our WC is upstairs next to the bath and washbasin

Kindest regards

Bruce My fault about the bird house ornaments, I got distracted and have not made the page yet. Soon. Thailand was incredible. If I had the time and could afford it I would be back in a flash, or at least a long plane ride. Actually the flight was not bad, even for me. I am short and heavy so I do not really fit into economy but I try :-) For me the five hours from Toronto to Vancouver was worse than the nine to Tokyo or the eleven to Bankok. Thai Airways and Japan Airways were wonderful, as was Air Canada of course. The real hit for me was being illiterate for the time in my life. A weird feeling. The folks were great, the food was wonderful, and the prices were low. What more could a person ask? O yeah, it was the dry season so every day was hot and sunny. Fantastic all the way round. When I get a chance to go through them I will get some of the pictures up on the web. Digital cameras are a wonderful curse. Over 1500 pics to go through.
