Given the choice, would members of this NG opt for a Union Graduate long bed lathe or a Record CL4 with electronic variable speed?
Why would you choose one over the other?

I would stay far away from the Record. Those round bars _vibrate_. It is probably not without reason that the Record-company sold the lathe-factory machines to China and stopped making them.

Check out your local dealers or call the companies customer service. See how well you are treated. Don't know much about either brand you have but I have an awesome lathe that I got from a distributor that I will never buy anything from again. I've seen pictures of the Union Graduate and it has got to be the best looking lathe made. If they have good customer service go for it!
