Looking for Morse taper/1-8 adapter

Sounds interesting, but what would you do with something like this? If the chuck turned at all the taper would ***k up the tailstock!

If you're thinking of making a carving stand, I used a 1"d x 4"l bolt, cut the head off and put it in my banjo.

Mike, one use is for centering a reversed piece onto a vacuum chuck. Remove the item with chuck from the head spindle, put it on the tail spindle adapter and move it up to the vacuum chuck nicely centered. This was discussed at length in the past.

I haven't done it and I don't know if they are expensive, but it would seem cheap & easy for a homeshop machinist to cut the head off a 4" 1X8 bolt and machine a male MT2 on it. Another item, Bill Noble?

Should have mentioned that it is to be used for positioning only, not under power. If you have one made up for power use, a drawbar tapped hole in the MT would be nice.

is the source for Packard and others, near as I can tell. For holding in the banjo for embellishing, I use a 1" 8 common bolt, beheaded and with a jam nut.

I want to do the finish turning on a bowl in the chuck, so that all but the tenon/recess trimming is done, then unscrew the chuck with the bowl in it, screw it onto the tail stock, put the vacuum chuck on the head stock and use the tail stock to bring the bowl to the vacuum chuck... which on paper, should have it pretty well centered..

The jaws of the chuck would be loosened as soon as the vacuum was up and the chuck removed from the tail stock...
