For the rest Hi all! I am Not real new to turning and I have a real desire to makeing things ROUND! Whether Wood! (my Favorite), Plastic! (Hmmm), or Metal (Fun but messy). I Have Nice litte (hmmm how do I say this after reading some previous post here Shop/Studio/Garage/Car-port/driveway/backyard/frontyard? it makes no difference as my shop is well enough equipt for most but I always need MORE TOOLS!, I do my own thing. I am retired at 53 and do what I want when I want, and SWMBO well she does her thing and I do Mine, and we get along okay till I get crazy and spend over $2000.00 on some small item she is not real aware of what it may or may not do. So goes life as it is. I also raise a few Cows, they like me I like them, some are good eaten too. I just posted a picture in the Alt bianary woodworkers area, and well I have a lot of wood from all over and I thought I grabbed a piece of Black walnut to turn on and What I got was NOT BLACK WALNUT! but something I do not know exactly waht it is Hard turniong stuff to say th e least Gatta have real SHARP TOOLS for it though. I usually do okay with Wood identy as I mark most every thing I get, but this one stumps me. If any of you go there, it is woddidenty and is a goblet I turned fr grins not the best I have done but was a challenge before I got done. yes I know I need lots of training yet but hey I have fun and to me thats what is important in life. Let me know what I got into. thanks on that issue. To all in the news group have a great day! it is nice to have any day considering the alternative.

Hi, Byron! Welcome to the newsgroup. Just promise us that you are not related to or an avatar of Al Kyder. There are very few flamings on this group, trolls are generally ignored. Newcomers seeking advice are treated courteously and are given whatever advice they request. This is not the woodworkers N/G!

Hey now, there are a *lot* of crossover Wreckers on here. We on the other side of the newsgroup divide are not a bad lot at all, and I can't remember the last time we flamed a newbie.

(Then again, my killfile is filled to brimming.)

Ron, Thanks for posting that link. It's an excellent site.

Hi Byron,

Here is a link to a website that has a ton of pictures of wood.

looked at your goblet picture. It looks a lot like the pictures ofsucupira on this site. Ron Robinson East Texas

Wow! What a wonderful site. I checked up on the sucupira, but didn't think it resembled Byron's goblet. No flecks in the sucupira.

Hey Byron,

Welcome to the forum.

Bring that goblet to the next meeting of the guild you inquired about joining, and we'll see if we can help.

(As Byron has contacted my privately, I can assure everyone he is not, nor has he ever been, associated with Al Kyder.)
