Any good surfactant, even liquid dish detergent in low dilution. TSP-90, a non-phosphate cleaner would be ideal. I use it for other things like saw blades.

Scratching is a problem, so a soak and wipe would be best. Any grit should drop in the soak. If no suitably-sized soak is available, use a wet washrag to soak, like bugs on a windshield. Turn it to wipe.

Before you use acetone, or other chemicals, on plastic materials, test a small spot on the side or bottom to be sure it doesn't cause the material to "etch" or fog over. Polycarbonate shouldn't, but not all shields are polycarbonate.

Hmm, I use vegetable cooking oil, mayo and such to remove pine sap from my hands. Never tried it on my face shield though.

Thanks,
