am I the only one to observe the passing of Sam Maloof?

No, I posted it to rec.woodworking, thought it was more "correct" there then here. But his passing lessens all woodworkers

The news of his death has been noted in other forums. Thank you for bringing it to this group. He attained almost everything anyone could hope for in life - a wonderful wife and many many years shared with her, a vocation that was also his avocation which brought him accolades both from within the woodworking community but many, many non- woodworkers as well, and to pass on what you've learned, both as a woodworker and a person, to so many, for so long. Pretty good way to live a life and enjoy the hell out of the ride.

I received word of his passing from a friend who had been fortunate enough to meet Mr. Maloof last year at the opening of Thos Moser's store in L.A.

His style was truly unique. He will be missed!
