Wood is good - gloat

There has been a thread on what to with shavings. After last fall's hurricane I was cutting some fallen trees for friends, neighbors and strangers. One of them mentioned she wanted some shavings for garden mulch. I filled the van twice with bags of shavings and dropped them off today. I brought back two loads of spalted birch, pin cherry and box elder, say about a half cord. It goes well with the cord of tamarack I cut this last week.

============================ Darrell, I guess that confirms the rumors that NS preachers pray for strong winds !! {:-0)

BTW, we just had some storms here yesterday; one location reported 17 inches ... then the dam broke! 200+ houses flooded. Typical for May in Texas Ken

Keep some mineral spirits handy if you decide to turn that tamarack. Gums things beyond belief!

I'm always happy to get the shavings I send out back, complete with ... additional nitrogen.

Darrell: Do you really feel this is appropriate for the RCW's resident Chaplain to be gloating like this? Creating feelings of envy, lust, greed and anger in your less blessed RCW parishioners? *G*

O I will turn some of the tamarack. The wood is pretty with a beautiful contrast between cream sapwood and honey heartwood. The sap sure makes it easy to wear though :-)

Leif Just letting folks know that God is good. Besides, this is a hint of what to expect if you drop by. The LOML keeps trying to put pieces of the stuff in other people's cars. Something about " 'tis more blessed to give" or was that "we have enough piles of the stuff in the yard already?" :-)

But Darrell, You have already given so much to the group. I particuarly liked the sanding disk/passive sander from your page. It has made sanding that soft maple received from a neighbor so much easier. BTW, neighbor will be receiving a bowl from em over the next couple weeks. I want to have a little more certainty that it's warped as much as it will.
