Spike Driver spun a FINE 'yarn':
Spike Driver/Dennis. . . I have one, am considering getting another that will make bigger 'balls'.... JM2C, Hugs, Noreen waving to Gail, and Don says Hi!
I'd definitely go for a winder with a bigger capacity next time if I can afford it. My current one really only winds a about 50g per ball and I prefer to work from larger balls. That said the larger winders are significantly more expensive. I guess like so many things you buy the best you can afford and that you get what you pay for. My winder holds the ball upright, but I've seen winders that operate in a "horizontal" position - I don't know how these two arrangements compare, can anyone comment?

Strauch/Fricke is fab. I have an original Fricke, it makes big balls with no problem.
KnitKing and/or Royal offers a monster ballwinder as well, but the new models are cheaply made. If you can find a "vintage" one used snatch it up, otherwise get a Fricke.
Hi Dennis I agree with Vintage Purls. I have a regular upright ball winder. See link below

Dennis, Are you going to wind up skeins or wind off cones?
Or, did I miss that you have taken up spinning?
Aaron
What kind are you going to purchase Noreen? Dennis
Just skeins Aaron. We have many used sweaters in the shops here, very cold winters. Would like to invest in one.
Still working on the sheaths but going slow. I need to set a fixed amount of time to work on the and stick to it. I have to many things in the fire with Gail's health declining so fast.
Thanks Aaron, Dennis
Thanks to both of you.
I am looking for one that will wind at least 4 ounces maybe 8.
Hugs to you both, Dennis
Thanks, Wooly!!!
I looked up the Fricke and really like it.
Many HUGS, Dennis
