You'll want to look at two-color patterns. The easiest way I can think of to put a start on the top of the crown is to knit up from the brim, make centered double decreases (slip 2 together knitwise, knit
1, pass 2 over) in the white along 5 lines of decrease and working with either red or blue between decreases. Shouldn't be too difficult but I'd have to sit down and do it to give you more specific instructions.
