It ain't over til it's over....

Wasn't it Yogi Berra who said that?

Anyway.... I was just out by the pool skimming bugs and leaves off the top of the water and watching the filter run. There is a lot of air pockets still running through it, and when I opened the door to the cabinet holding the filter I could see that there is still a leak coming from somewhere. Then I turned around and glanced at the pool and noticed that there was water spritzing out of the side of the side of the pot where the water first goes in before heading through the hose to the filter. So the water is draining out of that as I type this.

I totally give up!!! We can't afford to fix anything else having to do with the pool... too many other more important things to take care of. So instead of having standing water in our yard and having the neighbors complain and report us to the health inspector, because of mosquitoes and West Nile Virus... I think we'll just be draining the water out completely and not have a pool at all this year.

Gem Looks like I'll be hibernating in the house out of the heat this summer and not enjoying the pool (and water exercise I could have gotten) afterall. :o/

Gloom, despair and agony on me. Deep dark depression, excessive misery. If it weren't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all Gloom despair and agony on me! (talk about 'dating' oneself!)

But... that's what I thought of... oh Gem, enough is enough, time for GOOD things!

YOu know, that makes sense, Gem. Now all we have to do is hope for a cool summer.

Hi Gem,

OK, I won't send the heatwave up to you. What a bummer, but things will start looking up one day soon. There must be a reason why you can't get the water to stay in the pool, you just don't know what it is and probably never will. Just remember our Maker works in mysterious ways.

Hugs,

Nora

No worries about the heatwave getting here... it's actually a bit chilly today (and yesterday), and when the heat does come back I'll just have to stay inside out of it since I can't be in the pool this summer. :o/

The water stays in the pool alright, it just spritzes out the filter, and now out the strainer type of thingie on the side of the pool before heading to the filter. Matthew is going to take one last look at it all this weekend and see if he can patch up the cracks where it's leaking. If he can and the filter is able to work, then we can keep the water in the pool... if he can't then we have to drain it and put larvacide in it to keep mosquitoes away. Of course if we have to go that route, then before we can ever use it again we'll have to really scrub it to remove all traces of the larvacide because it is toxic. That's what the Health Inspector said.

I *did* mention that someone (likely the bloody neighbors... they have nothing else to do, since they definitely don't take the time to shut their THREE dogs up at 5:30 AM or all day long) anonymously called the Health Inspector on us, didn't I? He actually came around to the house the Monday

*after* we had drained the pool, but hadn't had the chance to wash the pool down and re-fill it because of thunderstorms, saying that someone reported that we had standing water in our pool. The weather hadn't even started to get warm by that point, so we figured the weekend that we did start draining it was early enough.

He came back this past Tuesday, after Matthew had put the filter back together on the weekend and our friend had come to double check it. When the Health Inspector was here was when we discovered that the stupid thing was still leaking, and then I turned around and saw the crack in the side of the strainer thingie on the side of the pool before the filter. Honestly, if it isn't one thing, it's something else. :o/

On the up-side.... I just got a phonecall from the lawyer at Legal Assistance to set up an appointment for me to meet with her on July 20th to discuss my Appeal Hearing on July 26th. So fingers crossed that everything goes well and that I get the decision reversed and get the approval for Disability shortly after that. We NEED to catch up on bills (not too far behind at the moment), and we NEED appliance replacements before they die completely.... after those two things I'll see what money is left and figure out what we'll use it on.

We had talked about me getting my own computer, but why bother... I mainly use Matthew's when he's at work to check my email and newsgroups (and occasionally do searches), and I play a few games to kill some time when I'm not up to doing much else. Considering that I can get half of the roof cost covered by Ontario Works (they pay my half... but I have to get THREE estimates for them to choose from), if I have enough money left over after taking care of the important things we NEED... then I MIGHT decide to either get the pool repaired or just get another one.... depending on the cost difference, etc. Actually, if our friend manages to buy a bigger pool (like they're hoping to) and if he hasn't already promised his to someone else... maybe I'll just buy his instead of a new one. *shrug* I'm not going to count my chickens before they're hatched though... first we wait to see if I actually am approved for Disability.
