You could always make it anyhow, and save it. For sure it will be needed eventually. I think that is what I will do.

You're absolutely right ... sooner or later somebody will have another little one. :o)
I've saved the pattern and will make it (sometime) after I finish my second sock! LOL I even have some yarn left over that will be perfect.
