Sunday morning

Just getting ready for church. I have the usual busy Sunday happening - I wish it really were a day of rest in my life! Hope everybody else gets to do something relaxing.

Hi Katherine,

I am relaxing after cleaning the big bow window in the kitchen. It was absolutely disgusting! I live on the first floor of an apartment complex near a motorway and many open construction sites (it does sound not so good, but it's a lovely place LOL).

Tried to make this baby hat, but I had not yarn enough:

to find another skein of yarn... Hugs,

My usual Sunday consists of doing chores (laundry, most notably) after breakfast.

I'm about to pull my first coffee of the morning, then start flapping pancakes (hopefully I won't stick one to the ceiling today!). Once I have the kitchen cleaned up and laundry started I'll sit down with a vest I finished knitting yesterday; I need to darn in about 30 ends and then get it blocked.

Yesterday we had rain - nearly half an inch per my rain gauge - but today is once again clear as a bell with a small northerly breeze. My vest should be dried and ready for the cedar chest by sundown if I get off my butt here and get my day started!

Good morning Everyone,

Yes, I can say that as it's about 11:45 here right now, cloudy with rain expected later on. DH and I are off to AC Moore then to our favorite Chinese Buffet for dinner. There they will be having a Lion Dance as it's the Chinese New Year today.

Got afghan no. six finished last night and am ready to put the squares for Marissa's afghan on the table to get them arranged.

Have a great day everyone.

Hugs,

Nora

Hi Anna Maria,

I've printed out the pattern as it's really cute, may have to give it a try.

Good morning. I think this is the first time in ages that I have been able to log in on a Sunday morning. I have the house to myself this morning, or what's left of it as it is 11:50 here, as my DH went with my DS for an audition. I think they will be home by 1, so it is really not much time alone. I have been very busy going to work with DH and have little time to read RCTY, or much else for that matter. Maybe I'll try to get caught up.

Hope you all have a great day.

Hi Nora!

Add a "ch 1, turn" at the end of first row, I tried to do exactly like they say, but I had to add it.

It's not difficult, but not as easy as it looks like. I have to count the stitches for every row...

Here it is after 4 in the afternoon, it is windy and wet outside I have been catching up on e-mail replies. As well as tyding up after a very bussy day yesterday.

We had a great Guild meeting here yesterday. Even though we do not live in a small house, we were bursting out of our two by fours with 22 members coming to the weekend meeting. We had lots of show and tell, and one new member who sat and did rug hooking. She talked and also worked like mad and finished the tree in her hooking. It was a lovely piece. We looked at the little frame loom and many of the members, thought they could make their own and we could do an exchange of squares. We had someone working on spool knitting on a little handmade one from an old tube. The spinning on a toilet roll was also popular. Many had brough their spinning wheel, and one lady came who wanted to sell her wheel. Otto took it in the basement and did some tightening up on loose joints. He also made an insert orifice, for the very large one on this wheel. Another person happy with a new wheel. Lots of great idea where exchanged. Kathy who did the rug hooking also showed her lovely chenille scarf and told us that she had made two exactly the same other than one thread that was different. Still rayon chenille, but just a different colour. When she finished the scarf and washed it, it all crickled and folded, along the warp lines. You all know what I mean, everyone loves a scarf like that, right now that is the style. Kathy was totally perplexed by that result, since she had made the same scarf before several times and this had never happend. Most of us thought that the core of the chenille was different. Most likely cotton and that it had shrunk at a different rate then the synesthetic core in the other chenille yarns. We all want to try it out and see if we can get the same great effects. Have any of you come across an effect like that while weaving with the same brand chenille, same thickness etc.

Busy shopping weekend these past two days for me. I visited two malls in Pennsylvania this weekend. I hadn't been to either in at least 10 years! We did not have any hockey games this weekend, so we tried shopping as an alternative. I had a blast!

I didn't get any stash but had fun getting DD some cute things which were on sale. A few things for DS and DH as well.

On Friday, I began to try to crochet with thread again. I am having a very hard time with the tiny hook and thread. I have numbness in both my hands for years and sometimes I just cannot grasp thread. I am working on a snowflake. If it looks okay, I may try another.

Hope everyone's weekend was enjoyable.
